Traveling along Tennessee’s highways can be challenging under the best conditions. When motorists fail to exercise due diligence at all times, then serious car accidents are an ever-present danger. Recently, one family experienced the devastation of losing several members in a fatal crash.
According to the initial report, the fatal wreck was caused when a 53-year-old driver, who was traveling in a southbound direction along 11W, failed to maintain his lane position. His full-size pickup truck then veered across the lane dedicated to turning vehicles and collided in a side-swipe accident with a second vehicle traveling north. That car was being driven by a 37-year-old woman who was traveling with two other adult passengers with the same last name and an unidentified minor. The three adults all perished in the crash, and the child suffered undisclosed injuries.
After striking the smaller passenger car, the pickup overturned and struck a third vehicle. That vehicle was carrying two occupants who were both injured. The truck came to a stop along the shoulder of the northbound lanes of the road. It was not clear whether the pickup driver was injured in the accident.
Tennessee officials cleared the crash scene and stated that there are charges pending against the driver deemed liable for this fatal wreck. The families who were impacted by this tragedy are understandably shocked by their losses and may never fully recover emotionally from the ordeal. The injured parties may face a long recovery from their physical injuries. All of the affected parties may struggle to cope with the financial burdens that serious car accidents often impose in the days and weeks that follow. Victims — or their surviving families — are entitled to seek just compensation for their monetary losses via a wrongful death or personal injury lawsuit against the parties deemed responsible for these tragic events.
