Residents concerned about future car accidents in area

Recently, police in one Tennessee city reported to the scene of a fatal two-car crash. The two victims who died in the crash were a mother and daughter on their way to a lunch date. Residents in the area are worried about possible future car accidents due to purportedly hazardous conditions.

The crash that killed a woman and her daughter occurred near an intersection that residents have previously complained about for excessive speeding. According to one source, the area features a hilly section that makes it difficult for motorists to see oncoming traffic. Along with the hill, residents described tree growth that makes it treacherous for drivers who are attempting to complete left turns onto the roadway.

Police did not release any details relating to the fatal collision and have not completed their investigation. Though there were two vehicles involved, the report only stated that another party was transported to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries. It is unclear which driver may have been at fault for the crash. While a news crew was investigating the wreck, another crash occurred a short distance from the first, though no details concerning possible injuries were reported.

Tennessee officials would not comment on the car accidents and refused to discuss whether any traffic control devices could help improve the safety of the intersection and surrounding areas. Residents are calling for the installation of blinking lights or other warnings to alert motorists and possibly improve the safety of that particular section of road. Those who have been seriously injured or lost loved ones due to the negligence of other drivers -- or possibly hazardous conditions that could have been corrected -- may have legal recourse to pursue compensation for their damages by way of a successfully navigated civil lawsuit. An experienced personal injury attorney can help assess a case and provide skilled guidance in helping victims recover their documented losses.
