Workers’ compensation program intended to provide financial aid

On Behalf of | Sep 14, 2018 | Workers' Compensation |

There have been countless Tennessee residents who have been injured on the job and struggled to make ends meet while they were incapable of returning to normal duty. It is for this reason that the workers’ compensation insurance program was developed as a way of providing injured employees with a source of income to relieve some of the financial pressures. Those who are in need of these funds may encounter difficulty when attempting to file these types of claims.

Recently, a construction worker suffered critical injuries on the job when he was entrapped by a piece of machinery. According to the reports, the 49-year-old worker was on the property of a construction company and attempting to operate a large piece of machinery that is commonly referred to as an earth mover. Apparently, the man was standing under one side of the lift when it lowered and crushed him against the arm of the lift bucket and the tire of the vehicle.

Emergency workers arrived to find the man suffering critical injuries. He was transported by medical helicopter to the nearest medical center equipped to provide critical care. He was scheduled to undergo emergency surgery for his undisclosed injuries. It was unclear whether the machinery malfunctioned or was mistakenly activated.

Local officials stated that there would be an investigation into the incident that would likely include officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The injured man’s prognosis was not released to the public. Workers in these situations often rely on benefits provided by the workers’ compensation program. Tennessee residents who suffer a serious injury or illness related to their job responsibilities may also qualify for these types of benefits. An experienced professional can provide assistance in filing valid claims.
