Summer a risk to kids near the roads in Craighead

On Behalf of | Jul 2, 2017 | Personal Injury |

Speeding in a residential neighborhood can quickly lead to injuries. Whether it’s to small children, parents biking with their kids or others, there’s always a risk anytime someone is speeding in an area where people may be walking, biking or participating in other activities on or near the roads.

In one neighborhood in Craighead County, summer is a fun time for kids but is still a risk to families. Even those in their own yards could potentially face danger from the traffic around them.

One man has said that he fears for his son’s life. His son likes to walk their dog, but if someone is speeding and not paying attention, both he and the pet could be hit. In the location where he lives, Cottonwood Estates, there are dozens of children who play on or near the roads, and that’s a major concern.

The Craighead County Sheriff’s Department has said that it also believes hazardous driving is becoming a problem in the community. There have been more complaints about the dangerous drivers and the risk they pose to others.

The man above contacted the Craighead County Road Department to have a speed limit sign installed. They did so, but it wasn’t enough. He offered to pay for speed bumps, but the CCRD wouldn’t allow them. Violators of the speed limit have been warned by the police, yet the issues have continued.

If you or a loved one have been injured due to another person’s recklessness, carelessness or negligence, you have a right to seek compensation for such damages as medical expenses, pain and suffering and emotional distress. An experienced attorney can help you learn more about your legal options and how you should proceed.
