Child falls out of amusement park ride, suffers injuries

On Behalf of | Jul 31, 2017 | Personal Injury |

When you take your children to an adventure park, amusement park or other activity park, it’s important that they’re kept safe. You expect that the rides are well taken care of and that the people running them know how to secure your children into their seats. Failing to do so could result in accidents that you can file a personal injury lawsuit over. That may be just what happens in this story out of Tennessee involving a fall at a local amusement park.

In this story, an 8-year-old child fell from a ride while at an amusement park in Pigeon Forge. The July 17 report indicated that the child fell out of the Wave Rider, a surfboard-themed ride that spins people around in circles.

The ride itself uses a safety harness to hold individuals in place. It’s not clear why the little girl fell out of the ride. It could be possible that she was too small for the ride, that the harness was not secure or that a locking mechanism failed.

The accident, which happened at around 5 p.m., resulted in the ride being shut down for safety reviews. A technician will be reviewing the state of the ride before it is reopened to the public.

Fortunately, the little girl is expected to survive the incident. The child complained of pain following the fall, but her specific injuries were not reported by the news. She had to be taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for medical care after the fall, suggesting she suffered at least minor-to-moderate injuries.
